How to tip your driver

100% of tips go to drivers. After a ride, you can choose to tip your driver with cash or through the Lyft app. Tips added in the app are charged to the card on file. Lyft credit can't be used to tip drivers.

Add a tip when you pay
The ride total listed and receipt reflects added tips. You can only add a tip through the app if it's been fewer than 2 hours since the ride, and you haven't submitted a rating or payment yet.
Add a tip later
After you pay for a ride, see historic ride details in the 'Ride History' tab. Select a ride, then tap 'Tip driver.' You can also add a tip later in the emailed ride receipt after payment is submitted.
You can add a tip up to 72 hours after a ride is complete.
If you'd like to add a tip and the link in the receipt is no longer active, we're happy to add one for you. Tap 'Contact Support' below and tell us:
  • Driver's name
  • Time and date of ride
  • Pickup and dropoff locations
  • Amount you'd like to add as a tip
Please keep in mind that in-app tips cannot exceed $50 (or 200% of the ride cost).
Default tipping
You can choose a percentage or dollar amount as the default tip for every ride.
Tap 'Set default tip' in your 'Settings' menu to get started. You can change or remove your default tip at any time.
If you choose a percentage tip as your default, a minimum of $1 will apply to all rides.
This feature is currently only available for iOS users.
